CHANGES TO THE 65 BUS SERVICE

NEW TIMETABLE

From 1st April 2024 there will be changes to the bus service through Devauden.

New funding arrangements from Welsh Government have required local authorities to demonstrate "best value for money". One of the aims of the new timetable was to reduce costs by devising a timetable that could be operated with a single vehicle throughout the day. As a result, there will be changes to the existing timetable.

The new timetable has been published here.

USE IT OR LOSE IT?

Catrin Maby (Cabinet Member for Climate Change and Environment and Monmouthshire County Councillor for Drybridge Ward, Monmouth) said: "Our records show that the numbers using these services have been very low to date, but we are concerned about the impact of rural isolation ...... we will, however, continue to monitor patronage data to determine the proven demand for these buses and we would therefore strongly encourage everyone to make use of these services so that they can be secured for the longer term."

MORE DRY STONE WALL SESSIONS PLANNED FOR 2024

There are nearly 1000km of dry stone walls in the Wye Valley Area of Natural Beauty (AONB), including a stretch of a few hundred metres on the southern edge of Cae Ni. On a lovely Autumn morning last year, 25 volunteers met at the village hall to learn how to build or repair a dry stone wall. Around 3 hours later, they had rebuilt around 25 metres of wall running down the side of Cae Ni that was in a bad state. Everyone said it had been great fun and a really worthwhile exercise , protecting their local environment.

We will be organising more sessions in 2024 to continue the good work. If you would like to get involved, please email admin@devaudenhall.org to let us know.
